Meet Our Volunteers: IfLooksCouldKill Designer, Scott Burns

With two weeks to go until the Impact48 Edinburgh Cyrenians Weekend (4th – 6th Oct) we have been working hard to rally up some skilled and creative volunteers. So we are beyond delighted to be announcing IfLooksCouldKill’s involvement!

IfLooksCouldKill is an Edinburgh based design and digital studio with a strong reputation in the arts and culture, creative and technology sectors. Representing the company is Designer, Scott Burns. I caught up with him to find out a little bit about him before the Edinburgh Cyrenians Weekend.

How did you hear about the weekend?

My colleagues Jonathan and Sarah have been involved with Impact48 and worked with Ezone Software before. News of the upcoming weekend has also been on Twitter.

Why do you want to be involved in Impact48?

Getting to use my skills and knowledge to help out with a worthy cause interest me, plus I’m sure it’ll be a fun experience to create something in such a short, intensive time frame.

Describe yourself in three words.

Creative, Geeky, Tattooed.

Describe your company in a nutshell.

A close-knit team of designers and developers, problem solvers and imaginative thinkers.

What do you perceive your role to be over the weekend and what are you hoping to bring to the challenge?

I’ll bring my experience in design to the challenge, so imagine I’ll be working in that capacity, whether it’s with other designers, or in conjunction with developers, marketers etc. I would hope that the power of good design will have a positive impact on the charity going forward with the results from the challenge.

What are you expecting?

Creativity, pressure and some fun!

What do you hope to gain from the weekend?

I think for me it’s more about what the charity will gain than me personally, but if it’s a fun and interesting weekend, with some nice pieces of work emerging at the end, that’ll do for me!

Impact48 are delighted to have IfLooksCouldKill and Scott Burns on board! Without the help of generous organisations and the people who work within them, the Impact48 weekends could not take place, simple as that! So we would like to take a moment to say a massive thank you to Sarah Robertson and Scott Burns at IfLooksCouldKill! We can’t wait to see what the hard work of our volunteers will achieve for Edinburgh Cyrenians over the weekend.

There is still time to get involved!

We are still welcoming volunteers for the next Edinburgh Cyrenians Impact48 weekend in October. We are looking for all sorts of volunteers, so you don’t need to fit into the techie, creative, designer or developer “type.” If you would like to find out more or volunteer for our next weekend please get in touch with us! Email at

We are also looking for other kinds of assistance for the weekend such as sponsors or perhaps fuel for the volunteers! Could you or your business help? Find out more about sponsoring or get in touch with us at

You can also sign up to our newsletter, like our Impact48 page on Facebook or follow us on Twitter @RealImpact48, use the Twitter hashtag #impact48.
