LGBT Youth, Scotland

LGBT Youth, Scotland, June 7-9

Our next weekend challenge is for LGBT Youth, Scotland.

“LGBT Youth are Scotland’s national charity for LGBTI young people, working with 13–25 year olds across the country. Our goal is to make Scotland the best place to grow up for lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender and intersex young people. We play a leading role in the provision of quality youth work to LGBTI young people that promotes their health and wellbeing, and are a valued and influential partner in LGBTI equality and human rights.”

THE CHALLENGE

This weekend’s challenge is to help the charity build on the success of their “Purple Friday : Turn Scotland Purple” campaign. This will involve helping to even further increase the campaign’s reach and to build a technical solution automating the process of updating a map of Scotland based on social media interactions.
The charity also has a number of other challenges which we may tackle, depending on the numbers and skills of our volunteer team for the weekend.

THE WEEKEND

It begins on Friday June 7th at 7pm, when we will meet other volunteers and the charity and learn all the details of the challenge. The weekend finishes with a short presentation and drinks on Sunday June 9th. The team have those 48 hours to create the magic!

THE TEAM

An Impact48 challenge weekend is all about creating something that is complete and real; something the charity can take advantage of immediately. Small and complete is beautiful in our eyes and real, measurable impact is what we stand for. By “complete” we mean something that works technically, looks great and has all the supporting plans, documentation and media that are needed.
Therefore, we need a well balanced team of volunteers who are able to tackle all aspects of our challenge(s), while working together to a ridiculously short deadline. The specific skills we are looking for include web developers (client side and PHP or ASP.Net), designers who understand the web medium, Social Media expertise, marketing and copy writing. On top of that we need people with the ability to understand the charity’s needs, and contribute advice and insights to help charity staff when they get back to the office. The team will be joined by representatives from the charity.

WILL YOU TAKE THE CHALLENGE?

We need you to have a Real Impact in 48 hours! Volunteers need only commit to this one weekend.
